I got a KOM on Strava and nobody believed me

Hey guys! Today I'm going to tell you a story that still hurts every time I think about it. It's one of those epic experiences that turns into a nightmare because of your friends. You know how it goes, the typical Sunday outing, supposedly peaceful, that always ends up being a hidden race.

That day I woke up feeling especially good. I'd slept like a baby, eaten breakfast like a champion, and my legs felt like Formula 1 pistons. The usual crew got together: Juanma, Antonio, Javi (the typical friend who always says he's not doing well but then blows you away when you least expect it), and three other friends who were just chilling.

The route seemed relaxed until we reached "The Devil's Hill." You know the one I mean, that infamous climb you usually struggle more than enjoy. Well, that day, for some reason, I decided to test myself from the bottom and took off like a rocket. And look, I don't know if it was the excitement of the moment or what, but it felt like I was going downhill instead of uphill.

I reached the top exhausted, yes, but with that unforgettable smile you only get when you know you've done something truly great. I reached for my Garmin and there it was, the glorious message: " KOM achieved! " I had shattered the previous time, even beating Javi, who had been bragging about that KOM for months.

When my friends arrived, I expected a standing ovation, but instead I got a barrage of laughter. It turns out that no one, absolutely no one, believed I could have climbed so quickly without some kind of "help." They accused me of holding onto the support vehicle, taking a shortcut, or, worst of all, activating the app in the car.

Imagine the drama: I achieve the KOM of my life and instead of praise, I get weeks of ridicule in the WhatsApp group, constant memes, and endless jokes about " Luismi, the motorcyclist ." To top it all off, now they want me to repeat it with eyewitnesses, a notary, and even a live broadcast on Twitch.

The moral of this epic tale: if you're going to smash a KOM on Strava , make sure you have reliable witnesses first, or you'll be doomed to perpetual ridicule.

Next week it's time for the rematch, and this time I plan to film the climb from every possible angle. Let's see who has the last laugh.

Luismi, your wild colleague from Damoff .
